Introduction to dementia and alzheimer's

Course Aims:

To provide students with an awareness of various causes of Dementia and methods to help staff to deal with clients. Also provide students with an overview of the biological effects of Alzheimers, and how it can lead to Dementia.

Course objectives

By the end of the training session the students will be equipped with the following knowledge:

• The definition of dementia
• The various signs and symptoms
• Techniques for managing dementia
• Various causes of dementia
• Biological aspect and history of Alzheimer's
• Service user's perspective

Course syllabus:

Definition, signs and symptoms, dealing with symptoms, causes of dementia, biological effects of Alzheimer's, patient's perspective.
