Course Aims:

To provide the students with the knowledge and training of Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Course objectives

By the end of the training session the students will be equipped with the following:

• Discuss Health and Safety law
• Discuss and demonstrate risk assessments
• Discuss how substances can be hazardous to your health
• Discuss and demonstrate PPE
• Discuss and define Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
• Discuss vehicles at work
• Discuss fire safety
• Discuss first aid in the workplace
• Discuss work equipment
• Discuss electricity in the workplace
• Discuss occupational health
• Discuss and define what is noise and vibration in the workplace
• Demonstrate and define ergonomics in the workplace
• Demonstrate manual handling
• Discuss working at heights

Course syllabus:

Introduction to Health and Safety, accidents and ill health, slips and trips, Health and Safety law, risk assessment, hazardous substances, PPE, Health-Safety and Welfare in the Workplace, vehicles at work, fire, first aid, work equipment, electricity, occupational health, noise and vibration, ergonomics and workstation design, manual handling and working at heights
