Manual Handling (Inanimate Loads) - in line with the All Wales Manual Handling Passport Scheme

Course Aims:

The aim of the course is to give the students best practice in manual handling of inanimate objects.

Course objectives

By the end of the training session the students will be equipped with the following:

• Discuss the function of the spine
• Discuss manual handling legislation
• Discuss handling policies and procedures
• Discuss and demonstrate ergonomics and risk assessments
• Discuss safer handling
• Discuss and demonstrate team handling
• Discuss and demonstrate effective communication
• Demonstrate safe moving of inanimate object (student’s participation)

Course syllabus:

A - Spine awareness, legislation, policies and procedures, ergonomics, risk assessments, safe handling, team handling and communication.
B - Inanimate load handling, practical ergonomics.

• 3 hours

• Practical exam
